Big fines for Anzac Day eve melee

Melbourne and Richmond’s on-field leaders have been fined heavily for their heated melee during the Anzac Day eve match.

Mid-way through the third quarter, a tackle from Trent Cotchin on fellow captain Jack Viney sparked the brawl, with players from the Richmond bench joining in, including vice captain Jack Riewoldt, who was handed a $2500 fine for his efforts.

Demon co-captains Viney and Nathan Jones were both fined $2500 for their involvement.
