Bindi Irwin rushes to tie the knot at Australia Zoo before wedding restrictions

Bindi Irwin is reportedly getting married to her childhood sweetheart Chandler Powell this afternoon, just hours before the Federal Government’s strict new wedding restrictions come into place.

Helicopter vision shared by 7NEWS shows preparations well underway for what appears to be a wedding at Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast.

Aerial photos posted to Twitter also show the 21-year-old daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin emerging from a vehicle while wearing a white gown.

It’s understood Bindi has brought her special day forward in a bid to beat the new restrictions for weddings, which come into place at midnight tonight.

From then, only five people will be allowed to attend a wedding in Australia – including the bride and groom – to halt the spread of coronavirus.

On Tuesday, Bindi shared a sweet throwback photo of herself with her father on social media.

She captioned the image “Thank you for being my guiding light. You’re always with me”.

Bindi first revealed she was engaged in a post on Instagram in July last year, sharing a number of images of the special moment.

“On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” she wrote.

“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!”

Chandler, 22, also shared the news on his Instagram, revealing he proposed at the place they first met – Australia Zoo.

“She said YES! Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo. I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light. Proposing in her very favorite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives.

“Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will.”
