AN injured magpie has this afternoon been admitted to the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, believed to have been shot with an air rifle.
It’s understood the bird was lucky to survive with the pallets only just missing its vital organs.
Staff at the animal hospital have raised concerns over the rising number of animals being targeted.

“Fear is growing with last week having a kangaroo shot by a bow and this week a bird with a rifle,” staff said in a statement.
“Coming into school holiday’s, these types of admissions unfortunately increase.”
