UPDATE: The Block contestants Steve O’Donnell and Chantelle Ford – the couple that struggled the most throughout the show – have walked away as winners of the competition.
The Victorian couple pocketed $636,000 after selling their apartment for a staggering $2.47 million in the final auction of the night.
Their record breaking profit scored them an additional $100,000 in prize money, which took their total winnings to $736,000.

Brad and Dale’s apartment was first to go under the hammer. It sold for $2.31 million, $507,250 above reserve, which set a precedence for the remaining three apartments.
Kyal and Kara started with the highest reserve price of $1,872,750 but still managed to pocket a profit of $567,250 after their property complete with iconic Melbourne views went for $2.44 million.
Last year’s winners Alisa and Lysandra, the couple with the lowest set reserve price of $1.759 million, walked away with a whopping profit of $616,000 after selling their apartment for $2.375 million.
But Steve and Chantelle would still go on to beat even the most experienced by $20,000.

EARLIER: THERE’S been blood and plenty of sweat over the past 10 weeks, but tonight dreams will come true in the highly anticipated Grand Finale of The Block.
Cashed-up buyers will be the ultimate judges of The Block tonight as the Fans battle it out against the Faves to take out the winning title and pocket the $100,000 grand prize.
Bidding at tonight’s auctions is expected to be fierce for these high-end properties in the sought-after beachside suburb of Albert Park, which is less than 5km from Melbourne’s CBD.
The contestants have engaged their own real estate agent and the apartments are auctioned completely furnished, with rooms just as they were presented to the judges each week.
All couples will be given a reserve price and whatever the apartment sells for above that reserve, they will also get to pocket.
The couple whose apartment sells for the highest amount above its reserve will be named the winner of The Block 2014, and will bank an extra $100,000 in prize money.
It was a challenge like never before for this season’s Blockheads who went on to transform an empty warehouse with no walls, no floors and no ceilings into into four stunning three-level, New York loft-style apartments.
Contestants were given architectural plans that only consisted of exterior walls and suggested room positioning. The layout of each three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment was left entirely up to each couple – so all four warehouse conversions are very different in shape and style.
