Blue Mountains armed robbery

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station attendant at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains overnight.

About 6.20pm on Friday 17 July 2015 a male entered a service station on the Great Western Highway armed with a double barrelled shotgun.

The offender threatened the console operator and demanded that he handover cash.

The employee complied and the offender grabbed a quantity of cash and fled.

The male who was armed with the shotgun has not been further described.

He was last seen heading east in Gardiner Crescent before turning left and heading north along Wentworth Avenue.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from the Blue Mountains Local Area Command were called and established a crime scene.

Investigators located several witnesses and officers commenced a search of the area.

Police discovered footprints in the snow near where the offender had fled and they were examined by

forensic experts.
