Blue Mountains gunman dashes through the snow after frightening servo heist

POLICE are hunting a man who allegedly used a double barrel shotgun to rob a service station in the snowy Blue Mountains overnight.

It’s alleged the man stormed the Great Western Highway servo at Blackheath about 6.20pm on Friday and threatened the attendant into handing over a stash of cash.

The attended complied with the demands and the gunman, who has not been further described, fled through the snow on foot.

Police raced to the scene and cordoned off the area in the hunt for the armed man who was last seen heading east in Gardiner Crescent before turning left and heading north along Wentworth Avenue.

Officers spoke to several witnesses and while conducting a thorough search of the area, discovered footprints in the snow which were forensically examined.

However, despite the best efforts of police, the man could not be found.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers immediately.
