THIS YEAR’S Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival has been named as a finalist for the annual Australian Event Awards to be presented in November this year.

Competing in the award category for Best Regional Event in Australia, Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival was selected from hundreds of entries from across the nation to make the list of just four finalists in this category.

The iconic Gold Coast event was also proudly named a state winner in the Australian Event Awards – named Best Arts, Cultural or Music Event QLD for 2014.

The Australian Event Awards Industry Night of Nights will be held at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf in Sydney on Tuesday 11th November, providing national recognition and celebration of outstanding achievements across the whole of Australia’s thriving events industry, from small-scale events in regional Australia, to multi-million dollar festivals and public events.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival magically transforms May into a mega-magnet for tourists. Presented by the award-winning Broadbeach Alliance, this major Queensland event attracted more than 95,000 attendees this year. Directly benefitting local businesses, the event has strengthened its international reputation as one of the largest Blues festivals in the world.

CEO of Broadbeach Alliance, Jan McCormick is incredibly proud of the recognition the event has received. “This is a truly remarkable achievement to be honoured as a finalist in a field of such high-calibre events held throughout Australia. Our talented team of only seven full-time employees here at Broadbeach Alliance work tirelessly to present a world-class event to our city each and every year and we are thrilled to be recognised within these prestigious awards”.

“Australia is blessed with one of the great event industries of the world. It hasn’t come about just through good luck but through the skill and dedication of a lot of great companies and a lot of great people.” Says former Olympic Chief and co-chair of the Industry Judging Panel Sandy Hollway.

“Our expertise has been honed on events within Australia ranging from the very big like the Olympic Games through to the myriad of smaller events that take place every day across the country; and we have aggressively and successfully exported our capabilities around the world. The awards are the opportunity for people in the industry to recognise the achievements of their peers and to celebrate their shared success.”

The 2014 Australian Event Awards is the national awards program to reward innovation, recognise excellence and unite the Australian Events Industry. Entries were open to any event staged between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.
