A MAN has been killed after the car he was driving burst into flames following a horror high-speed crash on the Gold Coast overnight.
The red sedan, reported to be a Toyota Aurion, exploded after coming to rest in a bunch of bushes on the side of the Pacific Motorway at Nerang around 10pm on Friday.
Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames, which had spread to surrounding vegetation. The vehicle was so badly damaged, crews were forced to cut it apart to remove the driver’s body.

Witnesses claimed to have seen the car travelling at dangerous speeds and weaving in and out of traffic along the M1 before the driver lost control.
“I witnessed the whole thing…the guy had a death wish and could have killed myself, my partner and about 7-8 other people,” one witness told Gold Coast Weather & News Together.
The motorway was reduced to just one lane while investigators examined the scene and worked to clear the wreckage.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the horrific accident.
The deceased driver’s age is not known.
There is no further information available at this time.
