Body removed from car found submerged in NSW creek

A MAN’s body has been retrieved from a car that was found submerged in a creek on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Passers-by first spotted the vehicle submerged in the creek under the Mitchells Island Bridge on Manning Point Road at Mitchells Island, about 30km east of Taree, just before 11am on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the scene but were unable to reach the vehicle and so a crime scene was established and guarded overnight.
