Bomb squad investigating after ‘grenade’ found on NSW street

A grenade has been found in the middle of a street in Griffith, New South Wales.

The grenade is believed to have been discovered on Banna Avenue by council staff around 8.30am.

ABC News reports Defence Force experts from Canberra are en-route to the scene to investigate after it was revealed it may be an old hand grenade.

Bomb squad detectives are also investigating and nearby workplaces have been evacuated.

It is unknown whether the grenade is ‘live’ or not.
