Bomb-threatening travelling clown on bail

UPDATED 01:15pm: THE AGITATED man who barricaded himself inside his car for ten hours while claiming to have the boot packed with explosives was a travelling performance artist who lives and works from his car as a clown.

Malcolm Jobson, 37, appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday morning, charged with threatening violence, bomb hoax and going armed as to cause fear.

The court also heard there were in fact no explosives located in the car as he so publicly stated.

Instead, officers located a single gas cylinder.

He was granted bail on the condition he under go an immediate mental health assessment and that he resides with his father in Caloundra.

The case has been adjourned and will be brought back before the courts on 10 February, 2014.

It is understood a family member of Jobson’s had cancelled his vehicle’s registration on Wednesday, which is believed to have been what sparked the 10 hour protest on Thursday.

Police intercepted Jobson and confiscated his plates on Wednesday afternoon.
