Boris Johnson voted Britain’s next Prime Minister

Boris Johnson has been announced as Britain’s newest Prime Minister.

The Brexit advocate and former London Mayor won a ballot of around 160,000 Conservative Party members overnight to beat out rival Jeremy Hunt.

It comes after Theresa May announced her resignation last month, following several failed attempts to extract Britain from the European Union.

She’s set to leave the office later today, after visiting the Queen.

The Queen will also need to formally appoint Mr Johnson before he enters the Downing Street residence.

In his acceptance speech to the UK Conservative Party, Mr Johnson vowed to get the Brexit deal through.

“We are going to energise the country. We are going to get Brexit done on October 31 and we are going to take advantage of all the opportunities it will bring in a new spirit of can-do,” Mr Johnson said.
