A 10-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital after an incident at a school in Bankstown on Tuesday.
Just after midday, emergency crews were called to the education facility on The Avenue, following reports a young boy had been seriously injured.
It’s not yet been confirmed exactly how the boy came to be injured, however police have been told the youngster is believed to have been involved in a game with a group of other students when he was allegedly assaulted and fell backwards.

The child, who police say has a pre-existing medical condition, was rushed to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Investigations into the incident have been ongoing ever since, with police attending the school to speak with students involved.
In a statement released on Wednesday, officers confirmed that the “boy’s condition will be monitored; however, no further police action is expected.”
The boy’s school said in a post on Facebook a short time ago that they’re offering support to the injured boy’s family.
Dozens of people have since taken to the post to send their well wishes.
“Speedy recovery to the boy injured in this terrible situation. We hope and pray you will be ok,” one person wrote.
“Thoughts and prayers for the little boy and his family. Praying for a speedy recovery,” commented another.
