Boy, 10, watches on in shock as dad attacks police during traffic stop in NSW

A MAN has allegedly lashed out and viciously attacked police during a traffic stop near Lake Macquarie, all while his 10-year-old son watched on in shock from the car.

Police said they intercepted the man’s vehicle after watching it drive through a red light along The Boulevarde at Toronto around 8pm on Wednesday.

After being asked to perform a roadside breath test, the man allegedly refused and lashed out at police.

It’s alleged the man viciously assaulted one of the officers while his 10-year-old son was sitting in the car.

The 48-year-old man was eventually detained and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with refusing a roadside breath test, refuse breath analysis, assault police, and resist arrest.

The police officer suffered bruising and swelling to his arms and lacerations to his legs, arms and fingers.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Toronto Local Court on Tuesday, October 3.
