Boy, 12, charged with stabbing stranger in shocking street attack

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested and charged with one count of wounding after he allegedly stabbed a stranger on a street in Brisbane’s south overnight.

Police said the child approached his victim, a 24-year-old man, from behind outside a business on Beaudesert Road at Acacia Ridge just before 8.30pm.

It’s understood the man, who did not know the boy, was talking on the phone when the 12-year-old allegedly stabbed a knife through his back before fleeing the scene.

The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The 12-year-old boy from the suburb of Pallara was taken into custody a short time later.

He has since been charged with one count of wounding and will face a Children’s Court at a later date.
