Boy, 14, charged over Burleigh Heads attack

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested and charged and four other teenagers remain on the run from police following a brutal attack a bus stop on the Gold Coast.

It happened at a stop on the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads around 11.15pm on Saturday.

Police said a 20-year-old man was attempting to board a northbound bus near Memorial Park when he was bailed up and brutally bashed by a group of teenage boys.


The man sustained serious facial injuries and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A 14-year-old boy from Miami has since been arrested and charged, but police are still searching for four other boys who are believed to have been involved.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the attack, or anyone who may know where the four outstanding boys are to come forward and contact them.

Police are particularly wanting to speak with a man and a woman who stopped to help the victim.

The 14-year-old has been charged with one count of Grievous Bodily Harm and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
