Girl, 17, placed in coma after being set on fire by ex-boyfriend in Qld

A teenage girl is in an induced coma tonight, covered in severe burns after allegedly being doused in petrol and set on fire by her former boyfriend at a home south of Brisbane.

Police say the two teens, both aged 17, became embroiled in an argument at an Avalon Court residence in Marsden, Logan, on Friday afternoon.

The boy allegedly doused the teenage girl in petrol during the dispute and set her on fire.

Flames wrapped around the girl’s body, leaving her with severe burns to her arms, legs, torso and face.

She was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she remains tonight in an induced coma.

Police today charged the 17-year-old boy with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
