Boy, 4, fighting for life after being hit by van on Qld street

A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a van in Queensland’s Darling Downs region.

Emergency crews were called to an intersection in Dalby just before 7.00pm on Sunday following reports a four-year-old boy had been struck by a vehicle.

“Preliminary investigations indicate at around 6:50pm a male driver of a Van was travelling eastbound along Drayton Street when he collided with a 4-year-old boy who had ran out on to the road,” Qld Police said in a statement.

The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Dalby Hospital.

He was then airlifted to the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane, where he remains in a serious condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
