Boy, 6, critical after being hit by car while riding Peewee 50 near family farm

A SIX-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car while riding his motorbike on a public road near the family farm in NSW.

Police say the boy was riding his blue Yamaha Peewee 50 – which can not be registered – on the farm which runs alongside Bishop Road at Griffith on Sunday afternoon when tragedy struck.

It’s understood the six-year-old left the paddock he was riding in and travelled onto the main road where police say he turned directly into the path of a ute.

Paramedics attempted to treat the boy at the scene before rushing him to Griffith Base Hospital.

Due to nature of his injuries, the six-year-old was airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital where police say he remains tonight in a critical but stable condition.

The 54-year-old woman who was behind the wheel of the ute was not physically injured although it’s understood she had to be treated for shock at the scene.

She was taken to Griffith Base Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
