Boy, 7, among 14 dead as tornadoes tear across southern America
At least 14 people have been killed after a destructive storm cell unleashed as many as 20 tornadoes across parts of southern American on Christmas Eve.
According to reports, it was a single large twister which touched down in Mississippi that caused most damage.
It reportedly carved a path of destruction more than 160 kilometres long to Tennessee, destroying as many as 20 homes and leaving as many as 13 people dead, including a seven-year-old boy.
A fourteenth body was reportedly found in Arkansas.
Scores more have been left injured.
Meteorologists say unseasonably high temperatures contributed to the storm’s severity.
