Man knifed in front of eight-year-old son in violent home invasion

An eight-year-old boy has been subjected to a terrifying home invasion in Sydney’s south west.

Police say two men burst into the Eighth Avenue home in Campsie just after 3.30am this morning and threatened the boy’s father.

The duo then allegedly demanded property from the 51-year-old man before slashing his leg and fleeing.

Police said the man’s eight-year-old son was home at the time.

The man and his young son were both taken to hospital where the 51-year-old man was treated for a cut to his leg.

Police said the man’s injury was not considered life threatening.

Fortunately, the eight-year-old boy was not injured.

Police said initial investigations suggested the incident may be targeted.

Officers established a crime scene at the house and investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward.
