Boy arrested after shopper’s car nabbed from Gold Coast carpark

A young boy has been arrested after allegedly stealing an innocent motorist’s car from a shopping centre on the Gold Coast before leading police on a chase in the vehicle.

Police were called to a shopping centre along Robina Town Centre Drive in Robina just before 11am, following reports a blue BMW had been stolen out of the carpark.

Officers managed to track the BMW as it made its way from Robina to Nerang, where it finally came to a stop around an hour later.


A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the boy allegedly behind the wheel was taken into custody near Alexander Drive.

He’s been taken to the local police station as investigations continue.

Charges are yet to be laid.
