Boy critical, five other children injured in horror Qld crash

A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after the car he was allegedly driving crashed in Queensland’s Cape York overnight, injuring five other children.

Police believe the Ford station wagon lost control as it travelled at speed along Kuttini Street at Lockhart River before rolling around 4.40pm on Saturday.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 14-year-old Mount Sheridan boy, sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Townsville Hospital.


Two male passengers, aged 13 and 14, were transported to Cairns Hospital with minor injuries.

Two 16-year-old female passengers and another 14-year-old boy were treated in Lockhart River for minor injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
