Boy drowns in water at Port Macquarie

A 14-year-old boy has drowned and another has been rushed to hospital after jumping into water on the state’s Mid North Coast yesterday.

Police say that just after 10.30am, emergency services were called to Nobby Beach, Port Macquarie, following reports of a body in the water.

On arrival, emergency services along with surf life savers, retrieved two boys aged 14 and 15 from the water.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the 14-year-old boy died at the scene. The 15-year-old boy was transported to Port Macquarie Hospital.

Witnesses have told police that prior to the incident, a group of males were seen jumping from rocks into the water.

Investigations are ongoing.
