Boy killed after being thrown from car in horror Qld crash

A 16-year-old boy has died after being thrown from a car in a horror crash in central Queensland in the early hours of this morning.

Just after midnight, emergency crews were called to Appleton Drive near Yeppoon following reports of a serious crash.

Initial investigations suggest a silver Ford Falcon was travelling south along the road, near the Fig Tree Creek Bridge, before it left the road and rolled.

A 16-year-old boy was thrown from the vehicle and sadly died at the scene.

The 18-year-old male driver and 16-year-old female passenger, were treated for minor injuries before being taken to the Rockhampton Base Hospital.

Police are now appealing for anyone with dashcam or who may have noticed the vehicle in the area around midnight to come forward.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.
