Boy missing in Japan after being left alone as ‘punishment’

A frantic search is underway in northern Japan, after a boy was left alone on a mountain as ‘punishment’.

The seven-year-old was in the mountains with his parents when they walked 500 metres away to teach him a lesson.

When they returned five minutes later, the boy was gone.

His parents eventually called in emergency crews, reportedly telling them he got lost while looking for vegetables. But later admitted what they had done.

The little boy has now been missing for two days in an area home to wild bears.
