Brawler lashes out, assaults police in dramatic scenes outside NSW restaurant

A YOUNG man has reportedly lashed out and assaulted a police officer following a wild brawl outside a restaurant in Sydney overnight.

Police say they were called to reports of a brawl between two groups of males outside the Church Street restaurant in Parramatta just before 11.45pm.

On arrival, officers saw four men run from the scene, west along Phillip Street.

All four were eventually arrested following a brief chase. It’s alleged that during the arrest, one of the agitated men assaulted an officer.

They were taken to Parramatta Police Station where two 21-year-old’s were charged with affray using violence to cause fear.

A third 20-year-old man was also charged with the same offence, in addition to assaulting an officer in the execution of duty.

All three were granted bail, to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday 23 November.

The fourth man was released pending further inquiries.

Investigations continue.
