Police hunt brazen syringe wielding robber after daylight chemist heist

Police are still searching for a man who robbed a chemist in Sydney yesterday, armed with a syringe.

It was just before midday when the man stormed the Perry Street pharmacy in Matraville and threatened staff.

Police said the man fled the scene with a stash of cash and prescription medication.

He was last seen running west along Perry Street.

Police swooped on the street and established a crime scene.

The police helicopter assisted ground crews in conducting an extensive search of the area for the offender, but he could not be found.

As investigations into the armed hold-up continue, police are appealing for help from the public to identify and locate the man.

He’s described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander appearance and with a slim build.
