Amber Alert cancelled after newborn baby found safe in Tweed Heads

UPDATE 11PM | A NEWBORN baby girl who was reported missing from the Gold Coast University Hospital on Friday afternoon has been found.

The baby was found safe and well by police in Tweed Heads a short time ago. Police have thanked the public for their assistance.

An Amber Alert was issued for the baby after she was taken by her parents from the hospital just hours after she was born. The alert has since been cancelled.

UPDATE 8:30 PM | POLICE continue to seek urgent public assistance to help locate a newborn baby girl missing from the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The baby, who was taken from the hospital around 3.30pm, is believed to be in the company of a man, a woman and a young girl.

Police have released images of the missing four, taken from CCTV footage at the hospital and on a bus.

The four were last seen at an address on Waikiki Avenue in Palm Beach, however they may now be travelling towards Banora Point in a grey or silver Kia Carnival vehicle, similar to the one pictured below.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of the four to contact them on 131 564. Please ring 000 for life threatening information about this incident.

• The 45-year-old man is described as Caucasian in appearance with a shaved head, beard and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and black board shorts and carrying a multi-coloured bag with black strap, a brown leather bag and a black bag

• The 30-year-old woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall with brown wavy hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt and black skirt.

• The girl, who police now say is possibly aged 12-14 -years-old, is described as having brown shoulder-length hair and was last seen wearing a blue jumpsuit with white stripes and white sandals.

EARLIER: POLICE are seeking urgent public assistance to help locate a newborn baby girl who went missing from the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The baby was taken from the hospital at around 3 o’clock this afternoon and may be at significant risk. She is believed to be in the company of a man, a woman and an 8-year-old girl.

The woman, pictured below, is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall with brown wavy hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt and black skirt.

The man, pictured below, is described as Caucasian in appearance with a shaved head, beard and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and board shorts.

The 8-year-old child was last seen wearing a blue jumpsuit.

They were last seen in the vicinity at Crestwood Drive near Watergum Street at Parkwood around 3.30pm, however, may now be in the Southport area near Short Street.
