Child airlifted to hospital after woman, kids injured

A WOMAN and three children have been injured – one of them critically – on a property south of Sydney.

It’s understood the 31-year-old woman and three young girls were on a quad bike when the woman lost control of the all-terrain vehicle and crashed through a fence.

It happened on a property off Calderwood Road at Marshall Mount in Wollongong about 10.20am on Sunday.

One of the children – a 10-year-old girl – suffered significant chest and head injuries and has been airlifted to the Westmead Children’s hospital in a serous condition.

Two other girls, both aged 11, were treated by paramedics at the scene.

One of them was transported to Wollongong Hospital with a shoulder injury, police said.

The 31-year-old woman was also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

It’s understood she will also be subjected to mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
