The M1 on the Gold Coast had to be shut down for a few hours this morning after a man was found dead.
A member of the public discovered the body on the motorway through Worongary, alerting police to an ‘unconscious male’ at around 1.30 am.
On arrival, officers discovered that the man had died, but are yet to say what the cause of death could have been.

A number of lanes were shut off as investigations began, with traffic delays lasting through to around 5.00 am.
Police were appealing for information from the public in their update around 7.00 am, with anyone with dashcam vision from the area urged to contact police.
Paramedics confirmed that they attended the scene and assessed a man for critical injuries after a reported vehicle and pedestrian incident, but they did not transport him to hospital.
