UPDATE: Fire crews bring Burleigh factory blaze under control

UPDATE @ 7.45AM  | Fire crews have now extinguished a blaze that broke out in a factory in Burleigh Heads.

The fire started in an airconditioning business on Township Drive at around 6.15am on Thursday morning.

The factory was well alight when crews arrived a short time later.

Firefighters were forced to cut through a roller door to gain access to the factory.

The blaze was put out shortly after 7.30am.

Seven crews from QFES remain on the scene.

Investigations are underway into what started the blaze.

EARLIER | Fire crews are battling a blaze that has broken out in a factory in Burleigh Heads.

Emergency Services were called to the fire at an air conditioning business on Township Drive around 6.15am on Thursday morning.

Witnesses say the factory appears to be well alight.

Smoke can be seen billowing into the air from surrounding suburbs.

A QFES spokesperson says five crews are currently on the scene.

Police and paramedics are also on the scene.
