Family escapes injury after fire destroys Labrador home

UPDATE @ 5.45PM | Four people have escaped uninjured after a ferocious house fire in Labrador.

The fire broke out in the bedroom of the home on Broad St around 4.30pm this afternoon.

The four people who were inside the home at the time, believed to be a mother and her three children managed to flee the house before the blaze took hold.

They’ve been checked over by paramedics but did not require any treatment

It took three QFES crews around half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Investigations into what started the fire are now underway.

The home has been extensively damaged and remains cordoned over asbestos concerns.

EARLIER @ 4.55PM | Emergency services are on the scene of a house fire at Labrador.

The blaze broke out in a single level home on Broad St around 4.30pm with witnesses reporting large plumes of black smoke across the suburb.

Three QFES crews are currently on scene battling the blaze.

A QFES spokesperson says the home was ‘well involved’ when crews arrived.

Police and Queensland Ambulance are also on scene.

It’s not clear at this stage if anyone has been injured.

There is another unit in the same building which was never mentioned which was also on fire and damaged. I escape bit later.

There was another part of the property which didn’t come to limelight(unit 2). People live in that part too which was burnt into ashes.
