LATEST @ November 13, 4.55 AM | FOUR people have now been charged after a man was lured to a unit in Southport yesterday and shot in the leg.
The chaos is understood to have started the night before, when the 27-year-old man from Holland Park was robbed of his hired black 2020 Mercedes Benz by two men he had met up with at Budds Beach.
“It will be alleged that around midday Friday two other men – one of whom was known to the 27-year-old – lured him to a high-rise unit on Lawson Street to negotiate payment for the return of the vehicle,” Queensland Police said.

While at the unit, an altercation broke out, resulting in the man being shot in his upper right leg.
“The three men, and a woman associated with the offenders, then rode the elevator to ground floor where the 27-year-old fled on foot and the three others allegedly fled in the stolen Mercedes,” police said.
The man then sought help from a grocery store at the bottom of the unit complex, before he was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Shortly after, police attended an apartment complex along Acacia Avenue in Surfers Paradise, where they located the stolen Mercedes with two men and two women inside.
All four were arrested and have since been charged with a string of offences.
A 29-year-old Southport man and a 25-year-old Gold Coast man have both been charged with armed robbery, acts intended to main, depravation of liberty, extortion, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The 25-year-old Gold Coast man has also been charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug (methylamphetamine and gamma hydroxybutyric acid) and possession of drug utensil (glass pipe).
While a 32-year-old Surfers Paradise woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and 26-year-old Beerwah woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of a dangerous drug (methylamphetamine).
EARLIER @ November 12, 2.30 PM | FOUR people have been arrested after a man stumbled into a Southport grocery store with a suspected gunshot wound to his leg.
Police were called to the store along Lawson Street in Southport around 12.30pm on Friday following reports a man had been shot.
It’s understood the man, aged in his 20s, was shot at a nearby unit along the same street before he sought help from workers inside the grocery store.
A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC investigations led officers to Acacia Avenue in Surfers Paradise, where they located a vehicle with two males and two females inside.
All four were arrested at the scene and are currently being questioned by police.
A crime scene has since been declared at both the Lawston Street unit in Southport and on Acacia Avenue in Surfers Paradise as investigations continue.
The victim has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
There is no further information available at this time.
