BREAKING: Massive delays after car erupts into flames on M1

A car has erupted into flames on the Pacific Motorway, causing major dramas for afternoon motorists.

The vehicle caught fire in the northbound lanes, near Exit 60 at Helensvale, around 4.15pm on Monday.

Witnesses told myGC the car was fully engulfed, with some drivers reporting they could feel the heat of the flames while travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency crews are currently on scene.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area, with massive delays currently being experienced.

At the time of writing, northbound traffic was banked back to Highland Park, while Southbound traffic was back to Coomera.
