Emergency declaration in Beaudesert revoked after man arrested

UPDATE @ 8.30 AM | A man has been taken into custody following a “serious incident” in the Scenic Rim this morning.

Police were called to a home on Birnam Street in Beaudesert around 4.05am and made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act shortly after.

The PSPA was revoked at 7.30am after the man was “taken into custody without incident”.

Residents in the area have now been allowed to return home after earlier being evacuated.

Police have thanked the community for their assistance and understanding.

EARLIER @ 6.30 AM | Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act in Beaudesert this morning.

Officers were called to a residence in Birnam Street around 4.05am today and are currently dealing with a “serious incident”.

The PSPA was declared at 5.15am and encompasses Birnam Street, James Street, Gordon Street and Beauview Crescent, Beaudesert.

Specialist police and negotiators are speaking with a 51-year-old man.

Residents have been evacuated and the community is being asked to avoid the area.
