BREAKING: Qld to open its border to New Zealand

New Zealanders will be able to freely travel into Queensland without quarantining in time for Christmas, the Premier has just confirmed.

Annastacia Palaszczuk has just announced that from 1.00am tomorrow (December 12), the Queensland border will fall to New Zealand.

Kiwis have been able to travel into Australia for a while, through New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

Overnight, Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young confirms it’s now safe enough to welcome them straight into the Sunshine State.

It’s hoped that might encourage worker-holidayers over the ditch, to help fill regional jobs.

While the Premier has also told The Today Show, she’s hopeful New Zealand will return the favour soon.

“We’re hoping that eventually New Zealand will not have to do that hotel quarantine on return, at that there will be free flowing travel between the two,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

My daughter will be rapt!!! She’s an ex-pat Aussie.

Thanks for the headsup in time to not be able to make any xmas plans or find flights.
Peoples lives dont spin on a dime like that

Can we get a CHO who is an expert and follows the Federal acting CHO’s advice, Prof Paul Kelly who is Australia’s leading epidemiologist, instead of making decisions based on political and personal agendas. We always hear about the health advice but never see what it entails and which experts were involved..
