UPDATE 4:30PM | The deaths of a woman and baby who plummeted several storey’s from a Melbourne apartment building this morning is being treated as a murder-suicide, police say.
Police said the 31-year-old woman and four-month-old baby were found dead at the base of the City Point building on the corner of Bourke and Spencer streets just after 10.30am.
The woman had reportedly jumped from an internal balcony with the child in her arms.

Police said detectives are treating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

EARLIER at 1:50PM | Police have confirmed a woman and four-month-old baby have died after falling from a balcony in Melbourne’s CBD.
Police said the 31-year-old woman and the baby were both found dead at the base of an apartment building on the corner of Spencer and Bourke Streets in Docklands at about 10.30am.
Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the two deaths.
Detectives from the Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit are at the scene.
They will now prepare a report for the coroner.

FIRST at 12:30PM | A woman and child have died after reportedly falling from an internal balcony in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.
It’s understood the tragedy occurred at an apartment building on Bourke Street just after 10.30am.
It’s believed the woman and child plummeted from an internal balcony.
They died at the scene, police said.
Their bodies were discovered at the base of the building.
The exact circumstances surrounding the fall remains unclear.
The deceased woman and child are yet to be identified.
