UPDATE 8:15 AM WEDNESDAY | A MAN will appear in court today, charged with failing to provide the necessities of life after allegedly dumping an unconscious woman on the side of a Gold Coast road.
The 34-year-old was allegedly seen abandoning the woman, who was in a critical condition, on the side of Gartside Avenue near Plantation Crescent in Maudsland just after 4pm on Tuesday.
It’s understood local residents watched the man, who was on a motorbike, dump the woman’s body before riding off.

A team of paramedics, including the city’s High Acuity Response Unit, treated the woman at the scene before rushing her to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Thankfully, her condition has since improved.
“The woman’s condition has improved and she has been speaking with police,” Queensland Police said in a statement this morning.
Following a major two-hour manhunt, the 34-year-old man was arrested on Reserve Road in Upper Coomera.
The Maudsland man was charged overnight with four offences, including failing to supply the necessities of life, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, driving withuot a licence and obstructing police.
He’s due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court later today.

A major manhunt was launched after the woman was found unconscious in bushland off Plantation Crescent just after 4pm.
A 34-year-old man was arrested by dog squad officers on Reserve Road at Upper Coomera just before 6pm.
He’s been taken into custody and is being questioned by detectives.
The man’s motorbike was located in nearby Stevens Street and has been seized by Police.

FIRST at 6:00 PM TUESDAY (by Matt McDonald) | A WOMAN is fighting for life in hospital after being found dumped on the side of a road in Maudsland while a major manhunt is now underway across the Gold Coast.
The woman was unconscious when she was discovered on Plantation Crescent this afternoon.
It’s understood she was taken to the street on the back of a motorbike being ridden by a man, before being dumped
Residents immediately alerted Police and paramedics.
Emergency services arrived a short time later before performing CPR on the woman.
She was able to be revived and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Mark Proctor from Queensland Police has told Nine News neighbours watched the situation unfold.
“Witnesses said that a large road bike has arrived at this location and dumped a female body there.”
Officers have been scouring streets as they search for the man riding the motorbike.
