3:00 PM | POLICE in bulletproof vests are responding to an incident at Ormeau Hills, on the northern Gold Coast.
Multiple police cars and vans raced to the usually sleepy suburb between Yatala and Pimpama around 2.30pm.
Officers have blocked Landsdown Drive, which cuts through thick bushland and runs over the Pimpama River.
A woman who lives in the area told myGC she saw police setting up a barricade on the bridge around 2.40pm.
“We were trying to leave but they [police] wouldn’t allow us too,” the woman told myGC.
“… they are putting bulletproof vests on [and] told us to turn around because we can’t go that way”.
Details of the incident remain unclear.
Motorists are being advised to steer clear of the area.
