Brisbane father and two sons found safe

A BRISBANE man and his two young sons have been found safe and well after going missing for two weeks in outback Queensland.

Steven Van Lonkhuyzen, 37, and his sons Ethan, 7, and Timothy, 5 left Brisbane on December 11 for a fun Christmas road trip but failed to arrive in Cairns as planned.

The trio were found bogged up to the doors in their vehicle by a local farmer in the Expedition National Park on Sunday, two weeks after disappearing.

Police said all three were well, however a little hungry.

The trio were taken to the nearest hospital for medical examination as a precaution.

It’s going to be happy Christmas after all for this family.
