A British tourist critically injured in a horror stabbing attack at a backpackers hostel in north Qld last week has died in hospital.
Police confirmed the tragic news just after 2.15pm Tuesday.
“Police can confirm British man Thomas Jackson, critically injured in an alleged knife attack at Home Hill on August 23, has today passed away in the Townsville Hospital.”

The 30-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds whilst trying to protect 21-year-old Mia Ayliffe-Chung.
Ms Ayliffe-Chung suffered fatal injuries in the attack and died at the scene while Mr Jackson was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Police confirmed charges against the 29-year-old attacker would be upgraded at his next appearance in Townsville Magistrates Court on October 28.
