The massive COVID-19 vaccination centre in Broadbeach is officially closing its doors.
The centre had been forced to close over the weekend due to the extensive flooding across the Gold Coast.
On Wednesday morning, Gold Coast Health confirmed it was now shutting its doors for good after administering more than 230,000 doses since they opened in July 2021.

Executive Director responsible for the COVID-19 Response, Paula Duffy, said the closure signalled the beginning of a new chapter in the pandemic.
“The closure signals the beginning of a shift in our response to the coronavirus pandemic now that most of the Gold Coast is vaccinated,” Ms Duffy said.
“I cannot thank the staff enough for their dedication, commitment, and teamwork. It is an inspiring homage to the essence of who we are as health care workers.
“I also thank the community for stepping up to get vaccinated, without you this centre, and others, wouldn’t be a success.”
Gold Coast Health’s vaccination centres at Coomera and Tugun will continue to operate.
Locals who had appointments at the Broadbeach centre will receive a text advising them of the closure and to make a booking at one of those two centres or with their GP or local pharmacy.
