Broadbeach rally targets local Labor meeting this weekend

The Labor State Conference, being held at Broadbeach on Saturday and Sunday, will be targeted by angry protestors.

The CFMEU’s organised a rally outside the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The Union wants the State to introduce industrial manslaughter laws in Queensland according to the Brisbane Times.

The Australian Marine Conservation Society will also set up a mobile billboard outside the conference in Broadbeach.

Environment groups want to send a message to the Premier that the Adani coal mine should not get special treatment over the Reef and the 69 000 jobs it provides.

At 9:00AM on Saturday a large mobile billboard calling on the Premier to put Reef jobs ahead of foreign mining magnates will be on display outside the conference as the Premier and Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten arrive.

Mr Shorten will speak at the conference on Saturday morning.

GetUp! will also target the Labor conference, with Google ads attacking Labor’s dealings with Adani.

The ads will come up when people in Queensland search for terms such as “Queensland Labor”, “Queensland Labor Conference” or “Australian Labor Conference”.

On Sunday, Australian Youth Climate Coalition supporters will hand out flyers about saving the Great Barrier Reef to anyone attending the conference.
