IT’S official – residents in parts of the Gold Coast have shivered through their coldest morning of the year.
The mercury plummeted to 0.8 degrees in the hinterland on Monday morning, including at Canungra, as a cold air mass settled in over the southeast.
Closer to the coast, locals found themselves reaching for an extra blanket as it got down to 6.2 degrees at the Gold Coast Seaway.

It was even colder on the southern Gold Coast, with residents at Coolangatta waking to a chilly 2.7 degrees.
While just northwest of the coast, Beaudesert locals shivered through a freezing cold minus 0.1.
At the time of writing (7.30am), the Gold Coast hit double digits at 10 degrees, but the ‘feels like’ temperature was 7C.
Temperatures will heat up later this morning, with the city heading for a Sunny day with a top of 20C.
