Buildings evacuated after car catches fire at Hope Island

Emergency services are at the scene of a large car fire at Hope Island.

The blaze broke out in an underground carpark of a unit block on Pendraat Parade just after 1.15pm.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency service spokesperson confirmed the apartment block and neighbouring properties were evacuated as firies battled the flames.

Four crews were called to the scene and successfully had the fire under control by 2.00pm.

They remain on scene ventilating the carpark.

It’s understood everyone has been accounted for.
