Bulldogs win gives Hasler some breathing space

Canterbury’s victory over Brisbane at a drenched ANZ Stadium has taken the heat off Bulldogs Coach Des Hasler.

The Dogs rolled the Broncos 10-7 after trailing 7-0 at half time, with second half tries to Josh Reynolds and rookie fullback Brad Abbey.

Hasler is expected to sign a new two year deal at the club after yesterday’s pre-game Board meeting.

Just 45 minutes before the whistle blew the Board revealed they would put a deal on the table for the coach.

But Hasler wasn’t talking about it in the post-match presser.

“We just got on with the week,” he said, admitting the past week hadn’t been a good one.

” We got back out there and won the game.”

Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett said Jordan Kahu’s  brain fade was the turning point when he picked up a Bulldogs drop-out before the ball crossed the 10 metre line.

“It was a crucial moment in the game … they got all their momentum from there,” he said.

“He had a really good game, but he’s played enough football to know what the rules are,” the coach growled.
