Burleigh named in Australia’s top five best beaches

Burleigh Beach has been named as Australia’s fifth best beach in Traveller magazines’ 20 Best Beaches for 2018.

There are only two Queensland beaches to feature in the top 10, with Nudey Beach in the top spot.

The beaches were scored according to three criteria, affordability, accessibility and authenticity.

Beaches which have a “yet to be discovered” element were looked upon favourably, this explains why there are some lesser-known beaches on the list.

Popular tourist beaches or ones which cater to “coffee culture” like, Surfers Paradise, Bondi Beach and Whitsundays failed to make the list as they didn’t provide an “authentic” beach experience, with the landscape, location and culture all taken into account.
