Bush fire conditions ease slightly, though threat isn’t over

Fire fighters will get a break from severe bush fire conditions, with hot and windy conditions expected to ease today.

Crews are still monitoring a blaze burning in Lower Beechmont in the Hinterland, which was pushed closer to containment lines due to yesterday’s conditions.

Water bombing activities in the Defence land during the afternoon did well to keep the fire contained.


The blaze isn’t expected to pose a threat today, though it is still being closely monitored.

While we’re in for a for a break from the heat and wind today, conditions are expected to worsen again tomorrow and Friday, with temperatures to soar well into the 30s.

The Gold Coast remains under a total fire ban until at least midnight on Saturday.
