The Southern Gold Coast’s biggest festival is just around the corner – and local musicians are getting the opportunity to be part of it.
Connecting Southern Gold Coast is holding auditions for solo and group musicians to busk at the upcoming Cooly Rocks On festival between 3 – 13 June.
Auditions will be held at the Activities Room at Kirra Hill Community Centre, 1 Garrick St, Coolangatta from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday 17 May.

Peter Doggett, CEO of Connecting Southern Gold Coast, said performers will be sought to complement the 50’s & 60’s rock n roll theme of the nostalgia festival.
“We’re pleased to see this busking trial commence on the Southern Gold Coast in time for Cooly Rocks On, to add an element of quality, on-street entertainment to the festival fanfare,” said Mr Doggett. “Last year’s Cooly Rocks On saw over 110,000 people attend, so it’s a great opportunity for local musicians to get in front of huge crowds throughout the festival.
“Each busker will have around 4 minutes to strut their stuff in the audition – so come in your best outfit and be ready to rock and roll!”
The busking trial has commenced this month on the Southern Gold Coast to support existing festival and events in the region, with Cooly Rocks On to be the first event to take part.
Buskers must be aged 18 years or over, and those who make it through the audition will be able to apply for a special 2 week Permit (June 1 – 13 inclusive) to perform at the festival for a reduced rate of $29.
